Welcome Message

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Indian Society of Human Genetics (ISHG), it is our pleasure to invite you to the 50 Annual Meeting of ISHG, being hosted by the Departments of Hematology & Pediatrics, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, from 5 –7 February 2026.
As we gather to celebrate the 50 Annual Meeting of ISHG, this occasion also marks a landmark moment in the journey of human genetics. The theme, “Golden Jubilee Celebration of Decoding Genetics: Transitioning to Translational Genomics”, reflects both our achievements and our aspirations. Over the decades, genetics has unraveled the basis of diverse disorders — constitutional, malignant, and acquired — deepening our understanding of disease mechanisms. More importantly, it has paved the way for translating this knowledge into clinical applications. Today, with rapid advances in genomics, the emphasis is on transforming these discoveries into tangible healthcare solutions: from precise diagnosis and genetic counseling to personalized medicine, gene therapy, and targeted interventions that hold the promise of improving lives.
To celebrate this scientific journey, we invite you to Chandigarh, the City Beautiful, where modern planning meets natural charm. India's first planned city designed by Le Corbusier, Chandigarh is celebrated for its striking modernist architecture, tree-lined boulevards, and vibrant gardens such as the Rock Garden, Rose Garden, and Sukhna Lake — a city that blends creativity, order, and natural charm.
At the very heart of this city stands the PGIMER, Chandigarh, an Institute of National Importance. PGIMER has long been at the forefront of healthcare, education, and biomedical research in India. With its legacy of clinical excellence, innovation, and training, it provides a fitting backdrop for celebrating this landmark meeting on human genetics.
We warmly welcome you to join us in Chandigarh and be part of this historic academic and scientific occasion.
Warm regards,
